For Black History Month we focus on artist Alma Woodsey Thomas and I got to make use of leftover canvases I've been meaning to repurpose!

Supplies:

- Canvas

- Paint pots with acrylic paint (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)

- A flat-ended paint brush

- Instructions/Info

I started by creating a handout with a short biography of Alma as well as a few examples of her work and brief instructions for how to mimic her signature style. I got the idea for this kit from an old Teen Services Underground post.

The rest of the prep included filling the paint pots (pre-filled pots exist but I couldn't find exactly what I was after), portioning out the canvases and brushes (one per kit), and creating an instructional video of me painting an example.

Amount of Kits: 30

Sign ups: 30 (Filled up before program date)

Cost: ~$70

Success: In progress
