This spooky take-home posed a few challenges, but turned out great!
Supplies:
- Paint (I chose black and a metallic bronze)
- Paint Brush
- Mod Podge
- Foam brush
- Paper Towel
- Little plastics spiders or other creepy crawlies
- Hot glue SPELLS & Spider web
The biggest issue I ran into with this project was how to get the 3D SPELLS title without the teens having access to their own hot glue gun. I ended up using the hot glue gun myself to write SPELLS on a piece of paper towel which was added to the kit and decoupaged on by the teens. If I had access to a Cricut at this point, cutting it out out of a thicker material would have been a good option as well.
I also had trouble getting my hands on the book boxes for cheap, as Michaels and Joann's listings were going in and out of stock (hopefully the link above works, if not, that's why!) But I got lucky eventually, and those were the main expense for this project. The box fit all of the necessary supplies inside so I was able to save a little on bags.
Amount of Kits: 17
Sign ups: 17 (Filled up before program date)
Cost: ~$70 (Excluding supplies we already had)
Success: I really liked this one, but its viability depends on your ability to find a good deal on the book boxes
